Following receipt and deliberations on the letter written to the Vice Chancellor proposing a protest if the University is not reopened before Sunday, the leadership of the Students Union was called to a round table to dialogue and further proffer ways of providing basic amenities so as to facilitate resumption.
The University administration however sympathized with the Students of UAM who have been most affected as a result of the ongoing industrial action by the JAC.
They consequently showed convincing evidence to provide amenities to further facilitate the resumption of students after being assured by the Union of the willingness of students to compromise on the limited resources proposed until the strike is called off.
Furthermore, They also reiterated their willingness to do all it can to communicate a date for resumption through the Registrar, Mrs. Nyitse Helen latest by Friday 2nd of February, 2018; this is to give adequate time to put all infrastructure on ground so as to ensure that all things are put in place and to further liase with concerned parties.
It was on this grounds that the Union Agreed to suspend TEMPORARILY its proposed protest until the agreed date, in the best interest of both students and Administration.
The Union uses this medium to thank all students for their solidarity so far and assures them of her continued willingness to uphold her honour always.
As we await the communication from the Registrar, we wish all great Makurdians a blissful week-end
