Toke Makinwa

According to Toke, a lot of people sit in their closets and hate on people for no reason at all… sometimes, the reason is because the person (object of hatred) is successful or beautiful or just plain nice, hence, hatred begins.

We can also deduce that Toke Makinwa is sending a message to her numerous haters and detractors who have never met her yet hate her and condemn everything she does. Her message to them is simple : “I don’t know you exist! ”

Faith Is Thanking God in Advance

09-06-15-Lasting-Legacy-Faith-Is-Thanking-God-In-Advance_mini
“When you pray and you ask for something, believe that you have received it and you will be given what you asked for.” (Mark 11:24 TEV)
Faith is not believing God can do something. Faith is not hoping he will do something. Faith is thanking God in advance.
Jesus said, “When you pray and you ask for something, believe that you have received it and you will be given what you asked for” (Mark 11:24 TEV).
You say, “Wait a minute! I’ve got to thank God in advance before I get it in order to get it?” Yes. If you thank God after you’ve got it, that’s gratitude. When you thank him in advance, that’s called faith.
If I handed you a check right now for a thousand dollars, would you wait until you cashed it to thank me? No! You’d thank me right now. But it really wouldn’t be yours until you actually cashed it, because that check is really a promise. When I give you that check, you go, “Thank you, Rick,” believing that I was credible and that I had enough money in the bank to cover that check for a thousand dollars. Faith is thanking God in advance.
What I’m saying is this: If God tells you to go after Moby Dick in a rowboat, take the tartar sauce with you. You’re going to have a fish fry tonight!
Jesus said, “Because of your faith, it will happen” (Matthew 9:29 NLT, second edition).
Talk It Over
  • Think about some of the common phrases we use in prayer. Do they reflect faith in God?
  • How would your perspective and attitude change if you truly believed God was going to provide everything you asked for?
  • What do you need to say to God today to show him your faithfulness?

Give hope, prayer, and encouragement below. Post a comment & talk about it.

NAUS Plans Indefinite Protests Until FG, Varsity Staff Unions Reach Agreement, Call Off Strike

*NAUS Plans Indefinite Protests Until FG, Varsity Staff Unions Reach Agreement, Call Off Strike*
The National Association of University Students, NAUS, has vowed to embark on a protest should the Joint force of NASU, SSANU, NAAT and the Federal Government fail to reach a compromise and call off the ongoing strike.
Speaking on Sunday in Abuja, NAUS Deputy National Secretary General, Comrade Ogochukwu Isioma, said after due consultations with concerned stakeholders and union leaders, the Association agreed to embark on a protest.
He said: _“When we commence the protest, we will not stop until the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of NASU, SSANU, NAAT and the Federal Government resolve the issue and call off the strike._
_“We have agreed that all NAUS leaders, Students’ Union leaders in the various institutions, concerned stakeholders, as well as well meaning comrades would join forces to begin the protest, if by the end of the three weeks ultimatum given them, the Federal Government fails to reach a compromise with the leadership of NASU, SSANU and NAAT.”_
According to him, the Union leaders would kick-start the protest at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
He said further: _“We are resolute in our quest to secure and protect our future from being ruined. There is no going back in our struggle to emancipate Nigerian University students from the shackles of oppressions.”_
He described the Federal Government’s attitude towards the education sector as sardonic and satanic.
_“NAUS has reaffirmed its commitment in collaborating with other Civil Society Organisations to ensure that public education at the university level occupies utmost priority in governments’ policies, budgeting and implementation,”_ Isioma said.
Liberian President George Weah cuts salary to confront 'broken economy'

Liberian President George Weah gives his State of the Republic address in Monrovia on Monday.

In one of his first acts as President of Liberia, George Weah announced he will cut his salary by 25% as part of an effort to confront his country's "broken economy."

"In view of the very rapidly deteriorating situation of the economy, I am informing you today, with immediate effect, that I will reduce my salary and benefits by 25%," Weah said on Monday in his first State of the Republic address.
Weah, a former professional soccer star in Europe, was sworn in as President of the West African nation last week. When he took office from his predecessor, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, it marked the first time in recent history that power has been transferred from one democratically elected leader to another in Liberia. Sirleaf took office in 2006 as Liberia's first elected female president, and was re-elected in 2011. Before her tenure, Liberia was embroiled in civil war for years.
In his first address to the National Legislature on Monday, Weah stressed the dire economic situation facing Liberia.
"Our economy is broken, our government is broke, our currency is in free-fall, inflation is rising, unemployment is at an unprecedented high, and our foreign reserves are at an all-time low," Weah warned.
The nation of 4.6 million people, which was founded by freed slaves from the United States in the 19th century, has long struggled to alleviate poverty. It endured a 14-year civil war that ended in 2003 and in 2014 faced an Ebola epidemic that killed over 4,000 people.
Weah remains a footballing legend and is considered one of the greatest Africans to ever have played the game. He played for several European clubs including Monaco, PSG, AC Milan, Manchester City and Chelsea.
Weah announced that the forfeited portions of his salary would be given back to the government and allocated as needed.
"I believe that it is appropriate that we should all make sacrifices in the interest of our country," Weah announced.
Four dead in Kenya blaze as fire trucks "run out of water
Residents of the Kijiji slum in Nairobi rummage through burnt debris following an inferno that left thousands of families homeless and four dead.
Nairobi, Kenya (CNN)A fire in the Lang'ata neighborhood of Nairobi on Sunday night killed four people and left an estimated 6,000 people homeless as fire trucks ran out of water, a local MP said.
"There was firefighting equipment there but unfortunately they didn't have water," Nixon Korir, a member of parliament for the area said.
He added that firefighters arrived within minutes but were unable to stop it spreading.
"We can have the best equipment but without water there is nothing that they could do."
In all, it took eight hours to contain the fire, Kenya Red Cross said.
Korir said he requested firefighting equipment from a nearby Kenya Defense Forces barracks and airport but could not get the equipment because of "bureaucracy."
Some people have criticized President Uhuru Kenyatta for not providing the community with working fire engines, especially as he launched new fire engines in the country last year.
The governor of Nairobi has tweeted that he has ordered a full investigation into the fire and that "those found guilty will face the full force of the law."
Navy Special Forces, solution to Benue killings —

    By Evelyn —
Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Isah Misau, weekend in Lagos, said the Navy Special Forces was the needed solution to the killings in Benue State, even as he announced plan by the committee to propose the adoption of Special Forces before the general House. Misau spoke during an oversight visit of members of the committee to the Western Naval Command of the Nigerian Navy and other units and formations under it. Senator Isah Hamma Misau The Navy Special Forces, known as Special Boat Service, SBS, are a team of small and highly trained personnel meant for special operations that are conducted in hostile and politically sensitive environment. It is predominantly focused on littoral and riverine operations, including reconnaissance and surveillance, as well as covert operations in advance of an amphibious assault. The SBS as gathered, had trained the Nigerian Army tactical warfare, the Ghanian forces and the Marine Police. Speaking with journalists after watching a display by the Special Forces, at SBS training ground in Ojo, Misau said: “As a committee, we have been speaking with the commander, SBS and the committee has collected some of the papers he brought from Jordan. We are interested in what he said. We were made to understand that if we have 30 of them (Special Forces) in Benue, they can solve the problem of herdsmen crisis. We have solution for the Benue crisis in the Navy. We are having enormous challenges in the Niger Delta, Benue, Taraba, Plateau and Adamawa, but with the Special Forces I think we can achieve so much. We will put it to the leadership of the senate so that they can tell the President that the solution is at hand.” Expressing satisfaction over the level of progress in the projects inspected, Misau described it as judicious use of the 2017 budget.
